The Greater Birmingham Fiber Guild has welcomed amateur and professional craftspeople who weave, spin, knit, felt, dye, sew, tat, and more since 1975. The Guild meets the second Saturday of most months at 10 am at the Hoover Church of Christ (3248 Lorna Road, Birmingham, AL 35216). We also have several monthly study groups. Currently study groups are meeting for spinning, knitting, and tatting. Visitors are always welcome at our meetings. Check the monthly newsletter posted on the blog or contact one of the board members to find out about our upcoming meetings, study groups, and workshops. Our bylaws can be found here.

Hi, I just inherited my Mother's 45" jack loom and was wondering if you knew where I could attend classes to learn how to weave.

Hi! I am looking for someone who can spin raw cotton. My father is a cotton farmer, and I am looking to make a keepsake from some cotton I picked at our farm last week. Santubm@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi, I am looking for someone that can teach me to spin raw fiber. I have a vintage wheel that appears in good working order. It needs to be evaluated by a knowledgeable spinner as to determine any deficiencies that need to be corrected. Thanks, kweeks@thexyz.com
ReplyDeleteI have been tasked to sell a car full of yarn for my friend who can no longer knit due to illness. Yarn is separated out by weight and season and many yarns are already accompanied by patterns. All are from a smoke and pet free home. She has already donated a car full of lesser quality yarns and what remains are high quality such as madelintosh, zen garden, berroco and other name brands. Are there any suggestions as to how to accomplish this for her? She needs the money for her move to assisted living. Thanks in advance for any recommendations. Deb
