Greater Birmingham Fiber Guild March Meeting Announcement

Date: Saturday, March 9th, 2024

Time: 10:00 to Noon-ish

Location: Hoover Church of Christ, 3248 Lorna Road, Hoover

Our program this month is: Quilted Mug Rugs

For our March meeting Gwen Cox, with the Birmingham Quilters’ Guild will talk to us about quilting, and lead us in making 4” quilted mug rugs. The Guild will provide all materials, but if you would like to, you can bring your own cloth: a 4 or 5” piece of cotton or linen for the front (something pretty), and a slightly larger square of cotton for the backing. You could also bring a thimble, if you’d like.

If you’re planning to come to this month’s meeting, the Program Coordinating Team would like a head-count, so they can know how much material to prepare. Please respond to this email to let us know if you’re planning to come.

2024 Membership Dues and Renewal; Dues are due!

The Guild’s membership year runs January through December. Annual dues are $25 per individual, and $30 per family. 2024 dues were due by February 28th. If you want to keep getting meeting announcements and Zoom room information, don’t forget to renew soon. You may pay by cash/check at any meeting or mail your check to Jen Lackey. Check your membership email for her address.

Dues also can be paid using PayPal. Please mark it “friends/family” and NOT “goods/services”. Use this address: paypal.me/GBFiberGuild or use our gmail account gbfiberguild@gmail.com

Name-tags

If you don’t have a name-tag or would like to replace your current one, look for the bucket of name-tag supplies at each meeting. If you would like to add something special of your own to the tag, don’t forget to bring it to the meeting.

Meeting Ideas

Look for an email coming soon, asking for ideas for future programs. If you have a particular craft expert or author who you would like to see via Zoom or in person, or a particular topic or craft you would like to see a presentation about or learn more about, let us know. Also, if you are willing to teach a program about a craft or mentor someone new to a craft, let us know that, too.

Refreshments

After a long break from refreshments at the meeting, we’re starting up again! Look for an email in the near future to sign up to provide them for a future meeting.

Our Zoom Room

Our Zoom Room is open 24/7 for any member to practice using it. This is a subscription service provided by the guild for the use of its members for guild activity. Guild meetings and groups will take precedence over individual use. Please do not share the meeting and passcode numbers with non-members for the safety of all members.
